John Walmsley
An insightful expert in Product Development innovation and team building, John Walmsley has over two decades of experience turning technology into products at companies in UK, US and Canada. He has overseen the design of over 150 products, including up to 30 concurrently.
John is currently responsible for leading the development of the next generation of products at G2V Optics. G2V is delivering precise, accurate LED light for companies who need a true and controllable simulation of sunlight in a variety of critical industries.
Previously he’s contributed in a progression of roles at StarFish Medical, including EVP Strategic Relationships, Chief Operating Officer and VP Product Development. In addition to playing a major role in growing the company from 15 to 150 staff, he has led the ultra-fast design, development, manufacture and delivery of hundreds of new ICU-level ventilators for the Government of Canada.
His early career spanned Research, Development, New Product Introduction and Product Engineering in high reliability opto-electronics for Hewlett Packard, Spectra Diode Labs and JDS Uniphase.
Fellow of the Institute of Physics, he is a frequent industry speaker and university lecturer across North America. He sits on review panels for UK Chartered Physicists and Canadian Professional Physicists. He advise start-ups on research, development, product definition and managing growth.
